SART & Attendance Intervention
Updated 2025-03-01

When and how to escalate a SART case to SARB or other interventions.

Escalation Criteria

A SART case should be escalated when:

  • Attendance contract has been violated
  • Family is unresponsive after multiple contact attempts
  • Student has accumulated 15+ unexcused absences
  • All school-level interventions have been exhausted

Escalation Steps

  1. Document all interventions and contact attempts
  2. Complete the SARB referral packet
  3. Include attendance records, intervention logs, and communication history
  4. Submit to district SARB coordinator
  5. Update case stage to "Escalated" in the system

Important Notes

  • Always consult with administration before escalating
  • Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate
  • Maintain copies of all correspondence
  • Consider whether additional supports (SST, counseling) may be appropriate before escalating
